New generation of Aimtec’s Sappy product range: Ready for Industry 4.0 – and for SAP S/4HANA

The Sappy range is backed by fifteen years of design, development, and testing. Its main goal is simple and efficient access to the standard SAP features for manufacturing and logistics companies. Aimtec is now enriching the market with a new generation of these solutions: Sappy4x4. It brings all of the advantages of SAP S/4HANA while retaining reconfigurability for adaptation to processes in automotive (SappyCar) or manufacturing firms (SappyManufacturing). Sappy’s Add-ons for managing warehouse operations (SappyWMS), for manufacturing management/data collection (SappyMES) and for measuring, managing and evaluating quality (SappyQMS) have seen updates as well.

A new architecture with new features

The most important change underlying the Sappy products is a new architecture, or more precisely, a new core. It lets users run Sappy4x4 on either the original SAP ERP 6.0 or SAP S/4HANA, significantly simplifying transitions of Sappy products to SAP S/4HANA. The new core lets users deploy Sappy4x4 products and benefit from its advantages while also reducing risks during future process transformations.

Its new architecture lets all transactions work the same on any device (computers, industrial tablets, mobile phones and scanners). All Sappy4x4 products can now connect to every technology, including AR/VR, because its display/communication layer is completely separated from its core (the running transaction).

Sappy4x4 brings users several premium functionalities for technologies in common use as well, such as:

• taking pictures using a mobile terminal and automatically saving them to SAP,
• signing using a mobile terminal and automatically processing the signature and follow-on transactions (e.g. printing the delivery note),
• connecting to a variety of devices, old and new (scales, VNAs from various manufacturers, manufacturing machines and more),
• providing clearer help to users (useful for example when launching new processes),
• using colour themes to simplify warehouse processes.

Sappy4x4 is already live at Aimtec customers

Aimtec has already completed its first successful deployment of an entire SAP S/4HANA system within Sappy4x4. Since January 2020, SappyCar4x4 has been handling processes at the Czech plant of a major automotive supplier – and completion of its deployment at their Polish branch is planned for Q3 2020. Aimtec is working with other customers on feasibility studies for transitions from Sappy products to Sappy4x4, along with the option of transitioning to SAP S/4HANA. It has thus demonstrated its competence and know-how in deploying S/4HANA – both as a new installation and as a conversion at customers already using SAP ERP.
