The fourth annual #AimtecHackathon will see participation by robots and international competitors

The three parts of the #AimtecHackathon programme, for three different target groups, give every participant a chance to acquire new experience and knowledge in a natural and entertaining way. The main event is the hackathon itself – aimed not only at programmers, but also at specialists in hardware, UX, graphics, VR and related fields.  People who still lack experience and wish to pick it up quickly are welcome as well. Participants will have a chance to learn something new about technologies – and about teamwork and leading projects. During this 40-hour marathon, they’ll be able to turn to mentors for the individual technologies, who won’t be intervening in the contents of teams’ projects, but will be offering the know-how needed for their completion. That’s what makes #AimtecHackathon special: the organisers leave participants a completely free hand in defining their projects; the only limitations are the technologies, time and skill available to the individual hackers. Besides Czech hackers, the event has also caught the eye of several teams from Bavaria, who will come to measure their strength against their Czech colleagues.

This year’s partners have provided a wide spectrum of technologies, such as those for the IoT, virtual reality, speech recognition and robots – they’re on loan from Desseq and OpenTechLab Jablonec nad Nisou. The other partners are Amazon Web Services, Arduino-shop.cz, GoodVision, iNFINITE production, RVTECH, SentiSquare, SIMPLECELL and SpeechTech.

The programme’s second part expands its focus to people from the public who want to know what’s moving and shaking the world of tech. At the event’s TechTalks, we’ll all be able to hear about things like data mining, machine learning, cybersecurity and 3D printing. Luminaries such as Petr Somol from Cisco and Josef Steinberger from SentiSquare will be coming to Pilsen to pass on their experience. Attendees can look forward to a total of ten presentations; the programme is gradually being filled in at www.aimtechackathon.cz.

This weekend of IT will be wrapped up with a Sunday afternoon programme for children and their parents. Pilsen’s Moving Station will become one big playground for our YoungHackers. Young visitors will be able to try out work with IoT technologies at the stands of our partners nvias, SPŠE, Pilsen’s Robotics Centre, and Campo arduino (the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the University of West Bohemia). The order of the day will also include two special workshops for children – who will be able to take their IoT creations home with them. A presentation of the options for technical and IT education in Pilsen is a part of the programme as well.
