BRANO

A fully automated materials and WIP warehouse

BRANO CaseStudy

Brano is a highly successful Czech manufacturer of locks, hoists and other parts primarily used in the automotive industry. It supplies its products to leading automakers. At its newly constructed warehouse in Hradec nad Moravicí, it wanted to digitalise and automate logistics processes for the materials warehouse, dispensing into production and the register of finished production.

Aimtec deployed the WMS within DCIx, which both interconnects and controls Brano’s warehouse equipment – roller conveyors, autonomous forklifts, automatic depalletisation and automatic stackers. DCIx serves here as a digitalisation platform.

BRANO manufactures and delivers pedal assemblies in various variants for the automaker MAN and palletizes them in a precisely defined pearl chain sequencing order (JIS within DCIx), which corresponds to the vehicles’ sequencing on the production line.

  • Traceability has improved – data is collected based on individual packaging units. 28,000 KLT carriers are marked with QR and RFID codes for more detailed and precise traceability.
  • Flexibility is also improved – nonstop warehouse operation (3 shifts; 5 days a week).
  • Warehouse capacity is up by 50%.
  • There’s now precise information for the materials warehouse operators about where each item is stored.
  • High work productivity and competitiveness are maintained within the demanding automotive environment.
